Different kinds of Visa According to the Purpose of your travel.


In here you`ll find information on what visa your going to acquire.

BUSINESS/ CONFERENCE- If you apply for a visa to visit Sweden on business, you need the documents listed on the checklist. 

Note: You might need a work Permit together with your visa.




VISITING FAMILY/FRIENDS- If you apply for a visa to visit relatives and friends, you need the documents listed on the checklist. For applicant/co-applicant under 18 years old, additional documents should be submitted as stated under section Minors  on the checklist.



TOURIST- If you apply for a visa to visit Sweden, you need the documents listed on the checklist. For applicant/co-applicant under 18 years old, additional documents should be submitted as stated under section Minors on the checklist.


SPORTS / CULTURAL VISIT- If you apply for a visa to visit Sweden for a sporting or cultural purpose, you need the documents listed below.


  • A completed and signed application form Application for Schengen Visa  (form no. 119031) Click here for the form.

  • A receipt confirming payment of the application fee.

  • A passport or some other valid travel document. Your passport or other valid travel document must be valid for at least three months after your departure from the Schengen area and contain at least two empty pages

  • a copy of the first page in your passport, and of any extensions and/or name changes in the passport.

  • If the purpose is a cultural activity, the invitation from the organizer in Sweden must be submitted.  The invitation a.) has to be signed, dated and contain clear contact information to the person/organization that invites you, and b.) should also contain clear information about who will cover the costs for the trip and the stay in Sweden, the purpose of the trip and the duration of the trip.

  • If the purpose is a sporting activity, a document from the national association of the sport concerned showing that you are active in this sport. The document a.) has to be signed, dated and contain clear contact information to the person/organization that invites you, and b.) should also contain clear information about who will cover the costs for the trip and the stay in Sweden, the purpose of the trip and the duration of the trip.

  • Individual medical insurance covering the cost of emergency treatment and transport home for medical reasons. Read more under ‘Medical travel insurance’


Enough money to support yourself during your stay. In general, Sweden requires you to have SEK 450 per day/person. This can be proven with a bank statement or pay slips for the past three months. If the person who is inviting you to Sweden will be paying for your support, he/she needs to submit bank statement or pay slips. Please not that last years tax record usually is not considered sufficient.
